A hot glue gun is used to hold the key switches in the key wells. Why do we do this? Not just because this is how they do it at the factory, but also because if you try to remove a key cap from a switch, that pull will be transmitted by the glue to the key well and frame. If there's no glue, all the force of the pull will go to the very thin circuit board we're about to solder on - not good.
