The Holocaust Memorial to Murdered Jews in downtown Berlin. There are 2711 of these massive coffin-like concrete blocks, some as much as 3.5 meters tall. When you get towards the centre it can be quite eerie as the blocks remove you from both the sights and sounds of the city. It would probably be considerably more disturbing or contemplative if there weren't constantly bus-loads of teenagers shrieking and playing tag.
